Welcome to Hope Whitby. We are a “family on mission”.
We Love. We Share. We Meet. We Eat. We Grow. We Go. We Rest.
We love our town, and we love a one-on-one relationship with God.
On our journey with Him we seek to live a life like Jesus.
We love being a family and telling others about God, while we lovingly serve our town through ‘Malachi Storehouse’, our free at the point of need foodbank, ‘Wings’ – our project aimed at alleviating period poverty, and our ‘Hope gives Hope’ warm space and free breakfast once a week.
We are a completely decentralised model of church. This means that we have no church building at all. Instead, we feel called to take the good news into any place in the community that we can. Currently we meet in homes, community centres, schools, pubs and restaurants.

Meet the Team
Bec Weightman - Senior Leader
Hi and welcome to Hope Whitby. I am Bec the Senior Leader! Aside from my Hope role I am passionate about swimming, keeping fit and I am often found chatting over a cuppa! We are so excited to see God at work in our town and want you to know that you are more than welcome at any of our monthly activities! I also lead One Whitby & Beyond - a group of around eighteen church leaders in Whitby and the surrounding villages.
Ceri Holloway - Chair of Directors
Hi, I‘m Ceri and I’m a Director and an Apprentice Leader at Hope Whitby. I manage
Malachi Storehouse, which is our food bank and my heart is to help wherever I’m
needed so I can turn my hand to anything!
I love being a part of the Hope Whitby family, and showing the love of God through
all our outreach is what gets me out of bed in the morning. That, and a good coffee!
Steve Tinnion - Director
I have been a part of Hope Whitby for 6 years along with my wife Therese. For me, I love playing the guitar and lead praise & worship at Hope Meets.and other meetings. I was a Joiner/Cabinet Maker by trade and love all sorts of timber from all over the world as it is a stunning, warm, living material.
Therese Tinnion - Director
It has and is my joy and privilege to serve the Whitby community through Hope Whitby. I have been a part of Hope for six years and apart from being a Director, I am also the Administrator which I love. Steve Tinnion is my wonderful husband of nearly fourty years and we have two daughters with amazing husbands and 7 grandchildren. My original calling was a nurse until I had my children and then became an administrator, did my level 2 Teaching Assisting Course, Councelling Course, Phlebotomy Course and trained up in digital communications. My hobbies are listening to people, walks, reading, nature and wildlife.
