I love swimming
Last week I went swimming.
Nothing unusual in that.
I love swimming. I try to go a few times a week.
So, there I was, stood waiting for the leisure centre doors to open at the ‘magical’ hour of 7 am.
We, (the hardy gaggle who turn up for that first session on the day) race through the turnstiles, into the changing rooms -to our favoured lockers and benches – then on into the pool.
However, this particular day, I started unpacking my bag which should have been crammed full of all my post-swim essentials (shampoo, conditioner, brush, towels) only to notice, to the shock of my bleary eyes, that I had picked up my youngest child’s school bag – not my swimming bag at all!! I had a water bottle, some books and a ruler – but nothing that I actually needed!
Life has its ups and downs and sometimes we just don’t prepare ourselves well enough for these. Even if we do, (I had packed both mine, and my daughter’s bags, the night before but just chose the wrong one!) life can still get in the way!
a community locally, many are still feeling the impact of the COVID lockdowns and subsequent cost of living crisis which is something none of us were particularly ready for.
Some of us have prepared and planned well, and life has still got in the way – loss of relationships, redundancies, health problems or other issues.
If this is you today, then I want to remind you that it’s not just you. You aren’t the only one. But also, to say that if you need someone to talk to or some practical help, we are here.
Love Bec xx
